Four months after his appointment as head of the Audiovisual Outside France (AEF), which includes France 24, Radio France Internationale (RFI) and Monte Carlo Doualiya (MCD), Marie-Christine Zaragoza should submit mid-February, the draft strategic plan of holding its ministries (foreign affairs, finance and communication).
This plan should be the basis for negotiating the agreement of objectives and means (COM), which will soon be signed between the state and the AEF.
To prepare, Ms. Zaragoza and his teams have changed the working methods. Through numerous “cross seminars” they listened to three media personnel “traumatized” by two social plans and fusion forced march, led by the former CEO Alain de Pouzilhac, thanks to the summer of 2012 by the new government of Jean-Marc Ayrault.
MOST PEOPLE DO NOT TALK FUSION
“It was essential to break down the walls and revisit the border” points RFI journalist, who paid a high price for its resistance to the merger and relocation with the departure of two hundred employees. “Everything had tripped,” says another journalist from France 24.
Today, peace has returned. The three media were finally together smoothly on the same site in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine), and nobody talks about fusion.
After speaking, there has been writing. On a voluntary basis, employees and journalists sent written contributions on the Best Meat Grinder many topics discussed at public speaking as, among others, democratic values, ethics, distribution and new media. A summary was made to identify the major axes.
“Every company wishes to retain its specificity but multiculturalism must be on all antennas and new territories to be conquered,” Ms. Zaragoza.
In this synthesis, it appears that France 24 (French broadcast? Ais, English and Arabic) “must break the parallelism of the three antennas,” because each caters to different audiences living in Paris with jetlag.
This will not prevent these antennas to achieve, in case, special editions on a big event with a common publishing leader. “France 24 must be responsive, accurate and referent” insists Ms. Zaragoza.
These “Three R” will also apply to RFI. With its release in twelve languages, radio’s mission is to broaden its audience beyond Africa, the historic birthplace.
“RFI is not a radio but a continuous information media explanations and reflections, which has already proven itself,” said the owner of the AEF.
As for MCD, which is not distributed in France “lack of residence permit” quips one of its fifty journalists, it will register as “Radio Liberty and universalism” in the Arab world in full effervescence.
CHANGE OF NAME
C? Financial tee, the budget will be this year, maintained at 244 million euros, but it will be reduced staffing TV5 Monde (? 75 million) out of the bosom of the AEF.
With this budget, the holding company will have to manage tighter. It remains the least with each major donkeys international news as Al Jazeera (600 million dollars), BBC (400 million) and Deutsche Welle (290 million), which are its main competitors.
“We have found that the AEF its innovative status,” insisted Ms. Zaragoza indicating that this year, the AEF change of name.
